His Music |
|
Prodigiously talented, Malaika’s music reflects the vision of the Yoruba race, a mission of restoration and championing the near forgotten Yoruba values and heritage. Anyone who listens to his music would readily identify him as an ambassador of first, the Yoruba race, then the Nigerian country and the black, Africa people.
When it comes to stage performances, he is not boring as he enlivens the stage with his fleet foot, thrilling his audience with delightful dance steps and professional band men. Beginning music as a were singer, (Were is the early morning, Ramadan season chant, used to wake Islamic faithfuls), he graduated to the circle of music masters when he formed his first fuji band, the Tekoye Fuji Organization in 1985, though he's had a group with which he sang 'Were' for some years before then.
One unique distinction about Malaika is that he did not train under any Were or Fuji musician, a further prove that his talent is celestial.

Included in the band are 4 Instrumentalists, 4 back up vocalists and 18 percussionists. Other personnel includes a sound engineer, stage manager, logistics manager, three cash officers, a transport officer, two logistics officers and an executive assistant.
KS1 leads by example, a confirmation that he is a complete musician, as he also plays all percussions and is trying his hands on some string instruments. |
